Meet our new Middle School Guide!

We are so happy to share this introductory letter (see below) from our Middle School Guide and Curriculum Developer, Ryan Tucker!

Ryan joined our school early in January, 2022, and has since been actively working on designing our middle school (12-15 years) program, which will we be opening this September, 2022.

If you are interested in learning about this program for your middle school child, Ryan will be at the school between March 4-9. He will especially be present at our upcoming Open House on the school campus, this Sunday, March 6, where you will be able to meet him and hear more about the program we plan to offer. You can sign up for attendance to this (and other future open houses) HERE.

We hope to offer more info sessions with Ryan in the coming weeks and months. In addition to Ryan, we are in the process of hiring another Math/Science Middle School Guide, whom we hope to introduce to you in the near future.

To the Bovina Center Montessori Community,

I am delighted at this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Ryan Tucker, and I have recently taken the position of Middle School Curriculum Developer/Lead Guide. I am so excited to undertake this role.

I have been in education for over 14 years. The last 7 of those years have been in Montessori education at the adolescent level. My first experience with this pedagogy was at the Post Oak School in Houston in their middle school community. I also worked at Hershey Montessori in Ohio where I was one of the founding faculty members of the upper school and worked to develop the curriculum for an authentic farm based Montessori upper school experience. Throughout my experiences, I have seen how truly transformative a Montessori education can be at the adolescent level. I’m thrilled with the opportunity to share that with this new community.

My family and I came to Bovina Center in November to visit the campus and the area. We immediately fell in love with both. My wife, Jenna, has been an elementary music teacher for the past 16 years. We have two daughters. Rose is 3.5 years old and visited with us in November. She loved the farm during her visit, especially the cats and bunnies. Helena was born on December 23. As much as I am looking forward to teaching at Bovina Center Montessori School, I am just as excited about my daughters attending and having the chance to grow in this environment. My wife, after taking next year off to be with Helena, plans to teach music and art specials at the school in the future.

As for now, we are still in Ohio. My wife’s contract with her current school ends in June, and I am working from home to get ready for next year. We are also getting prepared to sell our house and for the move this summer.

If you have any questions about the middle school or future upper school program, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would love to meet you and answer any questions you might have. You can contact me at ryan@bovinamontessori.com or you can schedule a zoom meeting with me directly at https://calendly.com/ryan-bovinamontessori.

All the best, Ryan Tucker
